Meet the Model. Gayle Donaghey.
When planning for the AW20 shoot last year we were on the search for a new face to represent Copper & White. When we found Gayle, we hit the jackpot.
Gayle has a full time role working as a frontline worker on an A&E Intensive Care Unit in Yorkshire. As you can imagine, her world over the past year has been quite a rollercoaster as she’s been at the forefront of the battle against COVID19. It’s this courage, passion and drive which made us want to celebrate Gayle as a hero.
We took some time to chat with Gayle about her time with Copper and White, from her favourite shoot to her favourite collections.
What is your number one style tip?
Good underwear - a well fitted and supportive bra and knickers that work with your shape and clothes can work wonders. If your foundations don’t feel right, no clothes will look and feel as well as they should. And secondly, know what shapes and styles suit your body and dress to compliment that.
Which was your favourite Copper & White shoot?
York Shambles Market! It just felt really special and quite glam amongst the hustle and bustle of everyday life plus the sun was shining too.
What is your favourite piece from the Copper & White SS21 collection? The Paper Bag Shorts! They come in bright vibrant colours like the green and the classic navy as well as a patterned version. They can be dressed down with a plain white T-shirt and trainers or dressed up with a shirt, jewellery and killer heels.
What made you want to be a model?
It completely happened by chance. I’m an ICU nurse by profession but was spotted on a friend’s photo on Facebook and was approached from there. It was a bit daunting a first and a far cry from the day job, but it was something fun, exciting and certainly very different to spending 12 hours in full PPE. Why not - this year has taught me life can be too short to say no to opportunities.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to go into modelling?
Relax, enjoy it, listen to the photographer and always try to remember what the brief is. What is the label trying to portray from their clothing?
What do you love about working with Copper & White?
Clare has an eye for detail in her clothes. I think her own sense of fun and style as well class is shown in each collection. She is also so kind and appreciative and feeds you well in every shoot - always a bonus.
